Belgrave Primary Substation, Oldham

The works consist of the construction of a new 6.6kV Switch House to be built against the existing T11 and T12 transformer firewalls. Other works include the construction of 2No cable risers in T11 and T12 transformer compound areas and the erection of new palisade fence with weld mesh to the new site boundary.

24hour access to the existing substation had to be maintained for UUES staff and essential maintenance purposes.

The civil works include a return visit for delayed works to be undertaken on completion of the switchgear commissioning.

Work elements include:

  • Erection of temporary timber hoarding
  • Excavation to an approved formation level
  • Core drilling for future cables
  • Construction of a new 6.6kV switch house comprising of an RC bunded raft foundation and ground floor slab with brick/blockwork superstructure and concrete tiled roof on timber trusses.
  • Construction of brick built multicore cable risers within the live transformer compounds.
  • Installation of new surface water drainage system
  • Compound area and tarmac access road.
